Trillium

Picture
These are very beautiful flowers we found on our hike to Beaver Lake at Snoqualmie Pass. They can be identified by their three broad leaves and very fragrant white flower. The orange and yellow seeds in the flower are very attractive for ants which harvest the seed for food, bringing them back to their nests where the remaining parts end up germinating.

We found these primarily along the stream banks and near the lake itself. That does make sense since this is considered to be in the lily family of plants.

More to come.......

I don't know much about flowers, so our plan will be to document as much as we can. Then we'll learn about as much as we can and try and identify plant and flowers on our future trips. We'll add more every trip and I'll update what we learn along the way for reference.....it makes for a fun activity while hiking!
